Privacy Policy

Overview

Casefold helps parents and attorneys organize custody case documents. We take the privacy of your personal and legal information extremely seriously. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we protect it.

Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information — your email address and name when you sign up.
• Case documents — files you upload for organization (declarations, court orders, exhibits, etc.).
• Extracted claims and data — claims, timeline events, and organizational data Casefold extracts from your documents.
• Your responses — notes and responses you write within the app.
• Usage data — how you interact with the app (pages visited, features used) via PostHog analytics.
• Payment information — processed by Stripe. We never store your credit card details.

How We Use Your Information

• To process and analyze your uploaded documents using AI.
• To organize claims, evidence, and timeline events for your case.
• To share your case workspace with your attorney when you choose to.
• To process payments and manage your account.
• To improve the product and fix issues (anonymized usage analytics only).

Document Storage and AI Processing

Your uploaded documents are stored securely in Supabase Storage with row-level security — only you and anyone you explicitly share with can access them. Documents are processed by Google Gemini AI to extract claims and organize your case. We do not use your documents to train AI models.

Sharing and Access

Your case data is private by default. You control who has access:

• You can share your case with an attorney using a secure share link.
• Attorneys can invite you to a case they created on your behalf.
• We never share your data with third parties for marketing or advertising.
• We may disclose information if required by law or valid legal process.

Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your case data is permanently deleted within 30 days. Anonymized usage analytics may be retained indefinitely.

Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest, row-level security policies, and secure authentication via magic links. We do not store passwords.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access and download your data at any time.
• Delete your account and all associated data.
• Opt out of analytics tracking.
• Request information about what data we hold about you.

Children's Privacy

Casefold is not intended for use by children under 18. While the cases involve minor children, the app is used by parents and attorneys — not by the children themselves.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification.
